Fire Inspector
Part Time (20-25 hours/week)

The Village of Berkeley, Illinois (5,209) is currently accepting applications for a part-time Fire Inspector position. Under the supervision of the Fire Chief, the Fire Inspector position is responsible for performing fire inspections and enforcing all Village codes, ordinances, and standards relating to fire and life safety. This includes performing plan reviews, systems tests, inspections, fire prevention activities, administrative duties, and training and education on fire and life safety procedures. The successful candidate will possess good communications skills that are essential to the position as this position requires frequent contact with the public, staff, and Village officials.

Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent supplemented by a minimum of three years of experience in fire prevention and/or fire suppression related work. Additional fire prevention training and experience is preferred. Candidates must be trained as a firefighter and paramedic or EMT. ICC or NFPA Fire Inspector 1 certification required. OSFM Fire Prevention Officer 1 certification preferred. A valid driver’s license and knowledge of computers, office practices, code interpretation, and oral and written communication skills are required.

Salary: $18.92/hour
