CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS WITH THE VILLAGE OF BERKELEY

DECEMBER 2 - ANNUAL HOLIDAY FESTIVAL AND LIGHTING

As you begin to make your holiday plans this season, remember to set aside time to attend the annual Berkeley Holiday Festival on Friday, December 2^nd at 6:00 PM. We will have an ornament making activity for the children, and we will decorate and light the Berkeley tree. We will also have refreshments and music for you to enjoy.

As part of the festival, we are continuing the popular House Decorating Competition. A free trolley ride will be offered by the Village to take residents on a tour of decorated homes in Berkeley. During the ride, residents will be provided with ballots to judge the homes and these ballots will be counted to select the top three decorated homes for 2011. After the ballots have been counted, the winners will receive recognition in the February/March edition of the Berkeley Matters, acknowledgment on the Village website, a sign to display in front of their property reflecting their place in the competition and a gift certificate to be used at participating Berkeley businesses.

If you would like to participate in the House Decorating Competition, please contact the Village Hall at (708) 449-8840 to have your home added to the route.

DECEMBER 10 - BERKELEY FIRE DEPARTMENT SPONSORS SANTA DAY

The Berkeley Firefighters Association will be sponsoring their annual Santa's Day on Saturday, December 10^th. The Berkeley Fire Department will escort Santa around the Village and pass out treats to children. Santa will be riding in fire engine 352 and will stop at selected locations around town, subject to delays due to emergency calls.

The firefighters will help Santa pass out treats to the children. The Berkeley Firefighters Association and private businesses are providing the treats. Anyone wishing to have Santa visit a sick child at home within the Village of Berkeley can call (708) 449-9444 or (708) 449-8840 to make arrangements.

Come visit Santa at Republic Bank, located at 5500 St. Charles Road on Saturday, December 10^th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. All children are welcome to bring their lists. Parents and grandparents don't forget to bring your camera. We are also taking donations of canned goods for the local food pantries.
