Village President Robert E. Lee, Jr. was sworn in as Village Board President in May 2021 for a third term and after serving as Village Board Trustee for six (6) years. He attended Triton College and has worked in his family's construction company, Robert E. Lee & Sons Company for over 25 years.  President Lee became a member of the Village Board in 2007 to serve the community he was born and raised in. His family's support has motivated him to serve in an elected capacity that influences the management and policy of local affairs.

 

 

  Village Clerk Belia Nowak was sworn into office in May 2021. She was born in Chicago and has lived in Hillside and now Berkeley for over 40 years. Clerk Nowak attended St. Domitilla  in Hillside,  Proviso West, and Triton College. Clerk Nowak retired from AT&T after 37 years of service. She continues to call Berkeley home and is excited about serving the community and making a positive impact.  
 

 

Village Trustee L.W. Hammar was sworn in as Village Trustee in 2018. He was born and raised in Berkeley and has been a resident for 57 years. Trustee Hammar attended school at St. Domitilla in Hillside, St. John Chrysostom in Bellwood and Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst. He also attended Triton College and the University of Illinois. Trustee Hammar is retired after 30 plus years serving in municipal government. Trustee Hammar serves to maintain high - quality public services, fiscally responsible budget management, protection of property values and to enhance development and marketing of the community he is proud to call his home. Currently, Trustee Hammar serves as Chair of the Public Works and Utilities Committee and is Co-Chair of the Police and Property Maintenance Committee.

 

 

  Village Trustee Jason Mathews was sworn into office in May 2021. He received Bachelors of Science in Computer Information Systems and works for a fortune 50 company as a Software Release Manager in the Digital Engineering and Mobile solutions division. Trustee Mathews community service experience includes being a trustee on the Library Board (also served as Library board president) and a member of the economic commission. He became a Village Trustee because of his civic duty to help improve the community for the betterment of all residents.  Currently, Trustee Mathews serves as Chair of the Police and Property Maintenance Committee and Co-Chair of the Administration, Zoning, and Technology Committee.
  Village Trustee Jeronimo "Jerry" Perez was elected in 2007 as a Village Trustee. He received Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from Chicago Technological College.  Trustee Perez's civic experience includes being a member of the Park District Commission, 21 years as a Boy Scout Leader, and countless years working in church organizations. He became a Village Trustee because of his passion for working with people and his desire to help those in need. Currently, Trustee Perez serves as Chair of the  Community and Intergovernmental Relations Committee and Co-Chair of the Fire and Health Committee.
  Village Trustee Diane C. Salemi was sworn into office in 1995. She received her Bachelors of Arts in International Studies from Bradley University and her Foreign Affairs/Spanish degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, Mexico. Trustee Salemi has both work and civic experience in the public sector having worked at Triton College, Veterans Park District, and Memorial Park District and also participating in the Bellwood Lions Club. Currently, Trustee Salemi is the Chair of the Fire and Health Committee and is Co-Chair of the Finance and Economic Development Committee.
    Village Trustee Roger Thomas was sworn into office in 2023. He was born in Chicago, raised in Maywood, and has now been a resident of Berkeley for 37 years. Trustee Thomas attended school at Proviso East and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (B.S., Chemical Engineering). He is now retired after several decades in the manufacturing industry. Trustee Thomas has a history of community service, including several years as a trustee on the Berkeley Public Library, Co-Chair of the Berkeley Centennial Planning Committee, volunteer for the Westchester Food Pantry, and member of the Berkeley Community Garden Club; among others. He joined the village board with the goal of utilizing his community experience to help develop programs for the betterment of the entire Berkeley community, with outreach to the various community and governmental organizations.
                 
  Village Trustee Sherry Graf-Stone was sworn in as Trustee in May 2015. A resident of the great Village of Berkeley since 1993, she recently served as Commissioner on the Village's Economic Development Committee for seven years. As an SHRM-Certified Human Resources Professional at Aspire, an area non-profit serving individuals with developmental disabilities, Trustee Graf-Stone has spent years building relationships with people of this community and nearby communities. She is a lifelong member of St. Simeon Parish, she has served on the Parish Council and is an active Minister in the Church. Trustee Graf-Stone hopes that through her service as Berkeley Trustee she will be able to develop new and grow existing opportunities to enhance the lives of Berkeley residents. Currently, Trustee Graf-Stone serves as Chair of the Administration, Zoning and Technology Committee and Co-Chair of the Community and Intergovernmental Relations Committee.
