Business License Information

All businesses are required to have a Village of Berkeley business license to operate in the Village of Berkeley. The business license is issued annually and is valid from January 1 through December 31. The annual license fee is determined by the type of business, and in some instances the total square footage too. Generally, staff mails out renewal notices to businesses in November. 

Online Form

For the 2026 renewal process, the Village is implementing a new online form that can be utilized for both new and renewing businesses in order to obtain a permit. Please go here to complete this process online:  https://arcg.is/14jvSy1

Once the form is fully filled out, a staff member will communicate with you about the next steps in the process. 

Paper Form

Also, a business may elect to submit, like they have previously, via a paper application. The fillable application is included on this page for viewing and download. Once the form is completed, please email it to Jade Sanchez (Jsanchez@berkeley.il.us), drop it off or mail it to Village Hall (5819 Electric Avenue, Berkeley, Illinois 60163).
