Digging (J.U.L.I.E.)

Anyone, including homeowners and excavators, planning to dig or alter surface of the ground must first call the Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators (J.U.L.I.E.) at 800-892-0123 or visit their website at www.illinois1call.com.  State law requires that J.U.L.I.E. be notified 48 working hours before work begins.

J.U.L.I.E. is a message handling service for utilities.  Once the utilities receive the information about planned excavations from J.U.L.I.E., it is each separate utility’s responsibility to mark the location of their underground facilities at the excavation site.
