The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and specialized course work in general office practices such as responding to customers, showcasing excellent customer service skills, following policies and procedures, and other general office duties (or any equivalent combination of education and experience) preferably in a municipal

Previous experience in a Building Department and Springbrook software a plus. The ideal candidate will have at least one year administrative and office experience supporting management in an office environment. Candidate must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the elected officials, staff, and the public. Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communications skills are required. Attention to detail is vital and a demonstrated ability to shift direction in response to changing work situations.

The current annual salary range for the position is $50,760 to $71,064, depending on qualifications. The Village offers a comprehensive benefit for employees and their dependents:

Office Specialist Job Description 

 

Part-time Firefighter/Paramedic


The Village of Berkeley (population: 5,200) is accepting applications for part-time Firefighter/Paramedic positions. Under the supervision of the Fire Chief, this employee provides direct services, individually and as a member of a team in response to fire, rescue, hazmat and other incidents. Additionally, a Firefighter/Paramedic will respond to medical emergencies and provide pre-hospital Advanced Life Support (ALS) care to victims of injury or illness; and other similar municipal work, as assigned.


A successful candidate is required to have a minimum of one-year experience as a Paramedic and Firefighter, a valid Class B Non CDL Illinois driver’s license, a valid Illinois EMT-P license in good standing in the Loyola EMS System or enter the system upon hire, at least 21 years of age, a minimum of FF 2 / Basic by Illinois OSFM training, and to have earned a high school diploma or GED equivalent at the time of application. The nature of the work requires that the employee be capable of working outdoors year-round in sometimes harsh conditions, be capable of physically demanding work to include bending, heavy lifting, climbing, and driving.


The current stating pay for the position is $21.22 per hour. The Berkeley Fire Department is staffed 24 hours a day with employees working 12 hours shifts.
